Who we are

One person.
A lot of PCs.

betterPC is a one-person project born out of a simple frustration: too many people overpay for PCs they don't understand, or throw away perfectly good old hardware because nobody told them it could run just fine.

Whether you're building a brand-new gaming rig or rescuing a DDR2 machine for a grandparent, this site has you covered.

The story

Why betterPC exists

🗄️

The problem with old hardware

Greece has millions of PCs from the 2006–2015 era sitting in storage, still perfectly capable for everyday use, browsing, office work, even light gaming with a few upgrades. Instead of throwing them away, this site shows you how to bring them back to life for a fraction of the cost of buying new.

🔧

The build configurator

No other Greek PC guide covers DDR2 and DDR3 platforms in this kind of depth. The configurator walks you through compatible CPUs, RAM, and motherboards for your exact generation of hardware, so you don't waste money on parts that won't fit.

🇬🇷

Made for the Greek market

Prices include 24% Greek VAT and reflect what you'd actually pay locally, not US or generic EU estimates. Every recommendation is checked against what's realistically available to buy in Greece right now.

📚

Plain language, real knowledge

No jargon without explanation. Every guide on this site is written so that someone with zero technical background can follow it step by step, understand why each step matters, and end up actually learning something along the way.

Principles

What betterPC stands for

01
Honest pricing

Prices are estimates, labelled as such. No inflated numbers to make builds look cheap by comparison.

02
No ads, no affiliates

betterPC earns nothing from recommending specific brands. Picks are based on value and availability.

03
Old hardware matters

DDR2 and DDR3 machines can still serve real purposes. Helping people get more life from them is worth it.

04
Compatibility first

Nothing is recommended without a check. CPU–mobo–RAM compatibility is flagged before you waste money.

05
Greek context

Prices, availability, and part advice are grounded in the Greek and broader EU market, not the US.

06
Always improving

Parts lists, prices, and guides are updated as the market changes. This isn't a set-and-forget site.

FAQ

Common questions

Do you work on old DDR2/DDR3 PCs, or only new builds?

Both. betterPC covers DDR2, DDR3, and brand-new platforms — the whole point of this site is that old hardware often still has real life left in it.

Are the prices in the build configurator what I'll actually pay?

They're estimates that already include 24% Greek VAT and reflect realistic local pricing. Actual cost can shift with part availability, so message me to confirm before you buy.

Do you come to my place, or do I bring you the PC?

Whichever is easier for you. I offer home visits around Chaidari and the wider Athens area, or you can drop the PC off.

How much do repairs, upgrades, or builds cost?

It depends on the job — cleaning, upgrades, and full builds are priced differently. Message me with the details and you'll get an estimate before any work starts.

Do you earn a commission on the parts you recommend?

No. betterPC doesn't run ads or take affiliate commissions — recommendations are based on value and availability, not on who pays the most.

Which areas do you actually service?

Chaidari and the wider Athens area.
